Care advice for our products

WOOL / WOOL PRODUCTS

Wool is a material that can largely take care of itself - if you only give it the right conditions. It will also give it an extra long life. See my top tips below:

Daily maintenance:

Shake off and let hang airy after each use and the need for washing will be significantly reduced. The wool has self-cleaning properties. Brush with a soft brush over areas with visible dirt or to remove horsehair. In case of severe stains, it may be enough to rub a damp terry cloth over the affected area, but always try brushing first. We recommend the HERE brush for the care of woolen fabrics.

Sometimes woolen fabrics can attract pests that eat holes in the fabric, this can be avoided by placing cedar wood nearby. We have them HERE in our range.

Wash:

Avoid washing the product unnecessarily, both to save water and to reduce wear and tear on the product. But when it's time to wash, you can either wash by hand at max 30°C, or in a machine: hand wash/wool program max 30°C and max 600vpm in centrifugation. Always use wool detergent. Stretch and shape the fabric after washing to preserve original shape. The fabric can shrink approx. 3-4% in the wash.

Tip! If you want to get more water out of the product so that it dries faster, you can put it on a terry towel and roll it up tightly, the water will then be sucked up by the towel.

The product must NOT be tumble dried.

String:

Wool fabrics can be pressed/ironed and then also get a nicer and smoother surface. DO NOT iron directly on the fabric, but always place a moistened cotton/linen cloth between the product and the iron. Use medium heat and work outwards. Moisture and heat have a shaping effect on wool so start carefully until you see how the fabric and product react.

Pimples and fluff:

We try to choose high-quality materials for our products with a lower risk of pilling and lint, but wool fibers also have a life of their own. If after a while you experience increased fuzziness, bumps or fibers creeping up through the outer fabric, the best way to take care of them is to carefully cut them off near the surface. In some cases, a razor blade, or pick away machines can be used. Always be careful not to cut the fabric.

Pimples, lint, or scratches from wear are a matter of appearance and a normal process that does not affect use until the very long term. Think of it as a natural patina of a beloved product. Afterwards the product can be reused or recycled, read more about it HERE.

LEATHER

Lubricate the leather with leather oil before using it for the first time. The leather may have been dried out during the manufacturing process. Properly cared for, the leather will last for many years to come.

Continuous maintenance:

Make sure to keep the leather clean and supple using leather soap and leather oil/leather grease. Read the instructions on the product.
